Xbox 360 had its first incarnation of Mass Effect in 2007, said to be the best of its kind in games’ history, and when players finished this game, they wanted to keep going. This particular game had a great ending, and it also had some of the best characters most of us who played Mass Effect had ever seen. They were multidimensional, and were so real that they stayed in your mind long after the game was complete. Games like Mass Effect have in fact put Xbox 360 firmly in the lead as far as sales went, and Mass Effect earned a lot of money for Bioware.
If you have played Mass Effect on Xbox recently, then you probably still have your saved game. To those that have played it when it was first released, loved everything about it and deleted the saved game, you would not be too happy when you know that you will be missing out on a very big treat.
If you still have the first Mass Effect file, saved, you can keep it until early next year. At that time, Mass Effect 2 will be released, and you can actually import your saved game so that you’ll start right off in Mass Effect 2 where you left off in the first Mass Effect game.
However, that’s not what really is important here. What’s really important is that your character will retain his or her moral standing, so that the choices you made in the first game will carry right on over into this second incarnation. The choices will affect the second game, if you save your file, so that in essence you’re playing one long game.
Imagine when the credits rolled at the end of the first Mass Effect, and the second game kicks off. Many fans have come across the Mass Effect 2 teaser trailer. On the trailer the camera pans over a familiar armor suit. As the camera nears the chest area, we make out N7 on the suit, and then we finally realize that the suit belongs to the main character, Shepherd.
Only, it’s not. Actually, a Geth soldier wears the suit, and we learn that Shepherd was killed in action. However, these accounts, as they say, were greatly exaggerated, and he’s actually back in Mass Effect 2, with a whole new threat to face.
There are a few things that you need to know about Mass Effect 2. We all know about the multiple endings in first Mass Effect. Mass Effect 2 has its share of multiple endings, too. Your primary mission is a suicide mission, and you are warned about this at the beginning of the game. Shepherd knows this and so does this team.
What will it be? The entire team, and you, can live, or you can die. Whether or not you live depends upon what you’ll do and the decision to make during the game. Your decisions will shape your outcome. If you do happen to have your character die in Mass Effect 2, though, you’ll still be able to play him in Mass Effect 3.
