You might be thinking about exploring your abilities with instrumental beats, but you have to find out the basics as well as details about it. Instrumental beats is not just your average hip hop fare. It does not include lyrics. This is why those who do instrumental hip-hop music make sure that what they do appeals to the public just as hip-hop music with lyrics do.

Any producer of music know this. Producing instrumental hip-hop music is a little different than producing hip-hop singles with lyrics. The kind of hip-hop you hear today is made mainly to keep people entertained rather than to speak a message. Nevertheless, hip-hop is a musical vessel to impart or speak up a message that creates impact to people. Hip-hop is widely received around the world, being an influential brand of music. People listen to it. We dance to the beat. They feel the groove. People feel its vibe.

The extensive popularity of hip-hop and R&B today is undeniable. Many music fans all over the world buy CDs of their favorite hip-hop artist. As a matter of fact, this has become a fashion. You hear it in disco pubs and even dance with it. This kind of music is used to entertain people because the beats are fast, up-tempo to enliven a crowd. Hip-hop has a way of tapping to people’s energies that other kinds of music, like country or folk music, cannot do.

The Making of Instrumental Beats

This is mainly because for your ordinary hip hop songs, the rap or the vocal portion is the main selling point and hence the main focus of the song. However, instrumental beats are different because hip-hop music is not accompanied by vocals and so the music beats stand alone.

You can broaden your horizons considerably with this field of hip hop because you’re not limited by the lyrics and the emcee accompaniment. With this genre, or sub genre, you can actually give free reign to your thoughts!

Instrumental Beats and Instrumentation in Brief

Ever since Dr. Dre announced, in an interview in 2005, with Scratch magazine that he was planning on moving towards instrumental beats and instrumentation, more and more major producers and artists have started moving toward this field, making it extremely popular.

In September 2004, there was a law passed that protected copyright of artists who come up with original compositions and this law states that in order to sample such compositions, the permission of the artist must be sought beforehand.

Till date however, instrumental hip-hop has not really gained recognition as a full-fledged genre on its own and is often clubbed with trip hop, electronica or even industrial music. The problem with instrumental beats is that they lack the other portion that makes up hip-hop-the vocals or the rap portion or the lyrics. But instrumental beats making for an awesome listen!

Making instrumental beats is much easier than making hip hop beats because here, you can simply make any sound which sounds good to you - more so because you’re not really limited by the accompanying vocals which are so much a part of conventional hip hop.

It must be noted that what instruments used in making true hip-hop music are the same instruments still used in making instrumental beats and the only factor missing is-as mentioned several times in this article-lyrics.
