Have you heard of the iPhone? I bet you have because when it was released on July 29/07 it’s sales shot through the roof. The airwaves were flooded with stories about people lining up to buy this incredible device. If you haven’t heard of it, I bet you’re wondering what all the buzz all about?

The iPhone is not simply a regular cell phone that you have used in the past. The iPhone has multiple devices combined into one device. You can not only makes calls but you can watch movies, you can go online, and you can listen to music.

With all of these elements combined into one, the iPhone is not only technologically advanced but it’s also a handy way to carry all of your favorite multi media devices with you at the same time. Not only do you get the convenience of having to carry just one device, but because of this combination, you also get the cost savings as well.

Now, all of the features sound interesting, but simply put, you really have to see an iPhone in action to grasp how unique it actually is. Here are the different features of the iPhone:

1. The iPhone is not like your typical phone, in that it has no protruding buttons. It just looks like a thin, shiny, flat, black rectangular box. Once you power it on though, it comes alive. It’s big colorful graphical buttons allow you to dial numbers effortlessly by tapping on the flat screen.

2. Because the internet is such a huge part of today’s life, the iPhone sure comes in handy when you need to access the internet when you’re not near a computer. On the iPhone, you can view the real internet as opposed to pages formatted for mobile devices. You can easily zoom in out out and to see the different page elements closely. And because the screen on the iPhone is much bigger than a normal cell phone, it allows you to get a great visual of the page you’re looking at.

3. Movies? No problem. You can download a ton of them from the iTunes store. Once loaded, you can watch them in full widescreen view all on your phone. Because the whole phone is the screen, your viewing pleasure is not limited to the typical screen size of your normal cell phone.

4. The iPhone also is also a music player. With the large hard drive on board it can hold thousands of your favorite songs by your favorite artists. Simple touch on the music section and choose the artist. Another click and you’re ready to start listening.

Now that you understand the many features of the iPhone, you’re probably wondering how much it’s going to set you back. Originally they had the iPhone priced at $500-$600. After a couple of months this price was then reduced to $399 for the 8 gigabyte model. At $399, it’s much more affordable to the majority of people. If this price is still a little out of reach, you may want to try to find a used iPhone. Because they are so sought after, your still going to pay at least $300 even though it’s been used.

If you do decide to buy an iPhone, there’s one more thing you’re going to need and that’s a cellular phone plan. Currently, the iPhone has an exclusive with AT&T. Their plans start at $59.99 per month which is comparable with the other providers. If you find you have a few dollars left after getting your phone and plan set up, you may want to add some iPhone extras or accessories. Things like docking stations, cases, holsters and cables are very popular items.

Although, the iphone will set you back a little money, keep in mind that it really is multiple devices in one. If you want the convenience of having these different devices in one unit, then the iPhone will certainly deliver.
