Night of the Blood Monster: Lee is fine as Magistrate Jeffrey’s who is a vicious judge presiding over “Bloody Assizes” after the Monmouth Revolt opposing Baron James II. The film itself is monotonous and grisly. Cast includes Christopher Lee, Maria Schell, Leo Genn, Maria Rohm, and Margaret Lee. (84 minutes,’70)

Sign of the Times: A punchy Prince film shot in Rotterdam and Minnesota, characteristics thirteen numbers, some overhead photography and lots of bump and grind from both genders. Stolen to some degree by megastar drummer Sheila E. Cast includes Prince, Sheila E., Sheena Easton, Dr. Fink, Mike Weaver, Levi Seacer Jr., Wally Safford, Gregory Allen Brooks, and Boni Boyer. Stagecoach: One of the best American films, and a landmark in the aging of the Western. This is the film that launched John Wayne to authentic stardom. Mitchell won an Oscar as the intoxicated physician, as did the music score. Script by Dudley Nichos, from Ernest Haycox’s tale “Level to Lordsburg” whose plot is comparable to Man de Maupassant’s Boule de Suif. Cast includes Claire Trevor, John Wayne, Andy Devine, John Carradine, Thomas Mitchell, Tim Holt, Tom Tyer, and Jack Pennick. (96 minutes,’39)

In Enemy Country: So-so WW2 story, set in France and England, filmed on a back-lot. Not extremely persuading. Cast includes Tony Franciosa, Anjanette Comer, Man Stockwell, Paul Hubschmid, Tom Bell, and Emile Genest. (107 minutes,’68)

Born On The Fourth Of July: A true story that chronicles the life of Ron Kovic. A volunteer in the army, Ron does a tour in Vietnam, where he suffers injuries that leave him paralyzed. After his disturbing treatment by the government, and harrowing experiences in VA hospitals, Ron becomes an anti war activist. He feels completely betrayed by the country that he fought for.

High Crimes: Lawyer Claire Kubik has just been told that her husband is not who she thinks he is. Tom Kubik is really Ron Chapman, and he is on trial in the military justice system for the murder of villagers in Latin America. Claire takes on the case but just what will she find out, as the truth is unraveled?

Live Free Or Die Hard: The U. S. is under attack. A criminal mind is attacking the system with modern techniques. It is now up to Detective John McClane and brilliant computer hacker Matt Farrell to find and stop whoever is doing the attacking.

Light It Up: Well-intentioned although preachy drama in reference to a group of N.Y.C. kids who surround their high school after professor is unreasonably delayed and a patrol officer is inadvertently shot. He tries to handle a number of tough issues but outcomes are strained and melodramatic. Cast includes Guide Raymond, Woodland Whitaker, Marcello Robinson, Rosario Dawson, Robert Richard, Judd Nelson, Fredro Starr, Sara Gilbert, Glynn Turman, and Vanessa L. Williams (99 minutes,’99)

Agent Cody Banks: That adolescent spy is back for a U.K. venture, with Anderson all too evidently shoehorned into the cases for comedy alleviation as his watchdog. Muniz and Kelly are game. However, the characters and plot are just basically unexciting. P.S. Madonna and Jason Alexander are amid the executive creators! Cast includes Frankie Muniz, Anthony Anderson, Hannah Spearritt, Cynthia Stevenson, Daniel Roebuck, David KelIy, and Keith David. (99 minutes, 2004)
