A Short Review Of The Goonies

by Bobby Colon

Goonies Forever! If you grew up in the eighties, then no doubt you have fond memories of watching this movie over and over until the VHS tape finally wore out and snapped. If you haven’t seen it yet for whatever reason, think of it like… Captain Blood meets Indiana Jones meets Stand By Me meets Goodfellas. It really does have a little something from everything in terms of movie genres, and it’s definitely a classic as far as movie downloads go.

The movie follows The Goonies, led by Mikey Walsh, son of a museum curator. This gang of misfits hails from the Boon Docks of Astoria, Oregon. The movie really kicks into the story when the rich folks in Astoria decide they’re going to buy the Goonies’ neighborhood, tear it down, and build a golf course in its place. Boooo! That’s what we in the industry call a real Jerk Move!

Everything Is Getting Smaller

by Matt Thames

As the technology in our computers and technical devices become more and more advanced, they continue to become smaller in size. For quite a while, it appeared as if telephones were going to disappear entirely as a result of how ridiculously small they were becoming. Cell phones were getting so small that they were becoming uncomfortable and less easy to use.

As everything else became smaller, TVs continued getting bigger and more desirable. Despite the fact that that they are lighter weight and slimmer than before, the screens have gotten massive and the image quality has expanded tremendously over the last few years. And whereas hi def was merely available on a few stations, when it was originally introduced, virtually every channel is currently in hi def and enjoying TV is even better than ever before.

The Pacific Digital DrumXtreme DX-MIDI-PRO digital drum kit is the perfect kit for space- or noise-constrained musicians and would-be musicians. That is the main reason I decided to try it out in the first place and I found that I couldn’t have made a better decision. Here’s why.

It is a compact electronic drum set in its own rack-type setup, which makes it look and feel more like a traditional drum set. It comes complete with six separate 7.5-inch drum pads, 2 foot pedals, a rack/stand, drumsticks, MIDI and USB cables, and separate MIDI and USB consoles: MIDI for use with other MIDI-capable devices, and USB for integration with a personal computer.

The band Analog Atlantic (or AA) is the most recent of many Pacific Digital tribute bands. But they are much better. They truly live and breath to keep the memory and music of Pacific Digital alive and thriving well into the new decade. They, coincidentally, also like to drink Pacifico. Which goes great with salty snacks and watching Angling on ESPN 3. And often they have vocalist Doug’s uncle Linus buy them cases of Pacifico before shows so they can get properly nice before they play. One day maybe AA can all go to AA. Dare to dream suckers! These guys huff paint thinner regularly.

The members of Analog Atlantic are comprised of the genius of Doug Holden - Vocals; Mike Lina - Drums/Programming; and Jimmy Mark - Synthesizers and Programming. Former members of AA include the guy from Queer Eye from the Straight Guy who specialized in grooming; Denzel Washington’s nephew Fredrick; and former miss-teen Rhode Island and current resident of the Reno correctional facility Natasha James.
