« Information Regarding The Sony BRAVIA Television   How to Compare Video Game Systems »

by Chris Channing

We don’t usually refer to online arcade games as something that helps aid our education and hone our reflexes, but indeed studies show that they have much more benefit than most would think. This leads us to wonder if the hours spent playing arcade games out of boredom were actually well spent, despite parents telling children they are usually a waste of time.

Two necessary things in life are reflexes and depth perception, in which both allow us to interact with objects in everday life. Having good reflexes can also aid in playing sports and other related physical activity- something that is going to see benefit from playing arcade games. Even the U.S. Army has adopted forms of video game simulations to make the “real thing” for trainees who haven’t had real combat experience.

Intelligence is another human characteristic that is highly sought after. Video game companies have stumbled onto the educational niche as a form of entertainment, as studies show that educational games are becoming much more popular over the years. Trivia games, for instance, can give game players a wealth of information on all sorts of subjects they would otherwise have no prior knowledge over.

Being creative is one of the tougher traits of human characteristics to master, since it’s hard to just learn how to be a creative thinker. Arcade games assist in the process since they are able to give the player a wide range of different tasks to complete- whether it be to finish a race based on physics or solving a puzzle based on wit. As a result of the interaction, creativity seeks benefit.

Of course, no one said arcade games had to be beneficial to one’s future outlook- they serve the great purpose of relieving boredom where possible. Being bored at work or school is easily circumvented by going to a favorite Internet arcade and browsing old favorites and new additions to the arcade game lineup. Best yet, it’s a free source of entertainment since the majority of Internet arcades are absolutely free to play.

Lastly arcade games benefit the developers that put out the games for the rest of us. Developers offer such free games on the chance that they will land a deal with major video game creation companies- but also to do what they love best and get recognition for it. Some have even been able to obtain six-figure incomes from doing what they love best, so never be scared to follow your dreams in making and distributing arcade games.

In the end, an arcade game is a helpless thing to engage in as long as it isn’t take to far. Given, they are beneficial, but only if they aren’t interfering with actual things in one’s life.
