For every teenage horror film there are basically three ingredients for box office success and these are - top drawer death scenes, young and beautiful girls exposing themselves and enjoying with their on-screen boyfriends and of course, scary scenes that will make you cover your face.
The director does not waste time in introducing the characters to the audience as you do expect in a regular movie. Instead the movie starts off with murders, shows more murders in the middle and ends happily with a murder. Hard to digest, but this is really what happens here.
At the first seen we see Jason’s mother finishing off a bunch of campers who had previously accounted for Jason. So she takes a gruesome revenge on them by killing them all in the most brutal manner possible. The film then focuses on present day wherein we see a bunch of youngsters hiking through the woods in search of marijuana plants.
The rest is nothing new. Jason attacks them all and carries on what his mother started. He kills them all with lots of blood splattering around. Gore lovers will start liking this movie from this point. But after around 6 weeks, Clay Miller decides to come to Crystal Lake in search of his missing sister. He meets a group of college kids who are looking forward to a weekend fun at a cabin near the lake.
The story of all the versions of Friday the 13th is quite simple. People are shown going to the woods adjoining the Crystal Lake and they get killed in a barbaric way. You might feel that the series has a one-track story. But I don’t expect people thronging the theaters for watching an award winning story or any emotional scenes. Jason is shown killing people around with a machete in the earlier versions. But he gets himself promoted in this flick. He is using bear traps, bow and arrow, ice pick, an axe and well, anything that is sharp actually.
When you watch this movie always forget about any kind of morality. The film is full of steamy scenes, excessive drinkers and weed smokers. But this is what you get in an out and out horror flick. The performances of the actors are nothing to write home about but Jared Padalecki does deliver a good performance. Though his expressions are limited, he still manages to impress us. But still the film might not be able to catapult him to stardom.
I can’t imagine anybody spending to buy tickets to watch this movie at the cinema. This is really not worth it. Instead I recommend that you watch Friday the 13th online free and enjoy all the blood and gore. The movie is strictly for mature audiences. It has loads of love making scenes, drinking sessions and weed smoking. So it is a typical teenage horror movie but a gripping one though.
