I have put together a sampling of movie hits for 2008. This list consists of the movies I enjoyed watching this year. I hope you find some films here that are good viewing.
ROLE MODELS: Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (William Scott), who promote an energy drink, might be seeing some hard jail time after destroying the company vehicle while binging. The only way to avoid being locked up is to perform 150 hours of community service. Their task will be to mentor troubled kids in a big brother type situation. The pieces are all in place for this to be very funny.
FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Grief stricken from a break up with Sarah, a TV sitcom actress, Peter decides to go on a trip to the Hawaiian Islands to get past the break up. As you might guess, when he checks into the resort hotel, the first thing he sees is his ex girlfriend and her new lover, who’s bigger than life. This film is a classic romantic comedy.
TROPIC THUNDER: With an abundance of acting talent this outrageous flick is a claasic parody of popular war films. To get a realistic performance from his crew to make a true epic masterpiece, the now venturesome director into the middle of nowhere, and leaves them on thier own. The object is to overwhelm them into producing a war classic, which hidden cameras will capture. Incredibly, because the director walks over a land mine and is blown apart, the spoiled actors are on their own, and they are covinced everything is just an act, but the bullets flying are actually real. Great cast with incredible make up for Robert Downey Jr.and Tom Cruise.
10,000 B.C.: This cinematic production will take you back almost 12,000 years. When mysterious warlords from another tribe storm the Yaghai people, they capture, among others, Evolet. A strong young hunter, D’Leh, who loves Evolet, organizes a band of hunters to chase down these warmongers, and rescue Evolet and the others.
JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: Searching for his missing brother, professor Trevor Anderson goes on a mission that leads him to the center of the earth. This is a remake of the original 1959 movie, that was created from the brilliant book by celbrated writer Jules Verne. Starring Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutchinson.
MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: As the title suggests, this is the continuation to the animated smash hit Madagascar. Our cast of lost animals, Alex (Lion), Marty (Zebra), Glorial (Hippo), and Melman (Giraffe) want to return to New York’s famous Central Park Zoo, and go back to the lives they know. Instead, due to the Penguins, they find themselves going to have more adventures first.
GET SMART: Maxwell Smart (agent 86) is at it again, and everything is under “CONTROL”. KAOS vs CONTROL, gadgets galore, and all the classic quotes. This is a modern day version that looks back at the antics of Maxwell Smart.
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL: The Indiana Jones adventure continues, after a 19 year hiatus. This is the most recent movie in the Indiana Jones movies. In this episode an older Indiana is pitted against post war Soviets. The Soviets are looking for the Crystal Skulls, which are thought to have secret powers.
STEP BROTHERS: When two child like older men, who both live at home with one parent, find themselves having to share a room because their mom and dad get married, you have one crazy situation. Having the combination of Reilly and Ferrell as the key players, and the table is set for a very fun film. This film is a sure fire bet for a good laugh in 2008.
Many people will buy films, and views them on their home entertainment system. A more recent method for getting films is by downloading them directly from online sources. Online providers have websites that with a membership, you can download virtually any movie ever made.
