The Degrassi TV show is a Canadian drama that showcases the lives of teenagers who grew up close to the De Grassi Street in Toronto. This television series has aired in four parts over the years and the latest is known as the Degrassi: The Next Generation. The previous Degrassi shows were known as Degrassi High, Degrassi Junior High and the first one being The Kids of Degrassi.

There were numerous changes made in Degrassi junior high and Degrassi high to satstify the huge expectations from the fans of Degrassi. Sequel of Degrassi was made in a bigger school than the school in which The kids of Degrassi was taken, this is one of the major difference between them.

The series was one of the most popular teen series in the early 1990’s and was sometimes compared to another show which was aired in America called the Beverly Hills 90210. But the biggest difference was that the Degrassi was about teenagers and the cast was teenagers of around the same age however, Beverly Hills 90210 which was also about teenagers but used a cast of adults who pretended to act and dress like teenagers.

In Canada there was a disagreement for the foul language used in this show and some of the sensual scenes of the show. But after removing the controversial scenes reported by Canadian people it became huge success in America.

After the third installment the series suddenly stopped and nothing was heard about it for years. But then 10 years later Stephen Stohn along with Schuyler revived the show and started Degrassi: The Next Generation. It was an apt title as the show was launched in 2001 and Degrassi had moved into the next generation.

To cope with current generation teenagers Degrassi goes around current issues of the teens such as drug addiction, smoking, suicide due to stress, murdering someone for money, forming notorious gangs and so on. This show is still running after 9 seasons of success.

This is a beautiful series that talks about everything a teenager goes through and that is why this series is not only for teens but also for adults who can see what their kids go through in real life.
