The retail price of consumer electronic goods is about to increase due to the deteriorating exchange rate of the pound against main world currencies. The pound has lost about 30% of its value against the Dollar, Euro and Yenin the last 12 months. On the whole most electronic products such as high definition LCD Televisions, high definition Plasma Televisions, Blu ray players, AV systems etc are produced in either Eastern Europe so the weakened pound has add to the cost of importing them into the UK. Even those consumer electronic goods that are manufactured in the UK will be affected for the reason that the components are imported from outside of the UK.

Due to the economic down turn most top brand manufacturers have tried to absorb this increase in costs and put off increasing the prices. Regrettably they cant put this off any longer and announcements have been made by Panasonic, Sony, Denon, Yamaha and Sennheiserthat prices will increase by up to 32% in January 2009. Once this happens expect other manufacturers to follow. The prices may increase on current models for some manufactures whilst others may wait until they launch imminent new ranges of products. Nevertheless be in no doubt prices will rise. Furthermore if the pound weakens even further then prices may have to increase even further in the future.

Hence if you are looking to purchase the latest Blu-Ray Player, HD Plasma Television, HD LCD Television or other consumer electronic item right now may be a better time than ever or else you will almost certainly not see prices at the current levels for some time to come. Consequently beat the price increases, buy now, otherwise dont say that you wasn’t warned.
