Thumper Jones

by James G. Pynn

If you know, then you know. If you don’t know, then you should. George Jones was one of the hardest drinking, fastest living son of a guns in all of country music history. Admittedly living a life modeled after his hero, Hank Williams, George Jones blazed a trail of infamy and heartache across the wide-open plains of country music history. Known for his distinctive voice and loose phrasing style, the exploits of George Jones have passed from mere stories into legend.

According to Country Music Television, Jones is the “the greatest living country singer” today. In true George Jones style, I’m sure hed say something to the effect, “it’s the living part that’s tricky.” His clever turn of phrases and unusual vocal style can best be sampled on such legendary hits as “White Lightin’” and “If the Drinkin’ Don’t Kill Me.” Then again, all of his songs carry that signature sound.

You don’t have to look far to see the most booming English language silver screen franchise in the past. It is the James Bond 007 films. James Bond is a imagined character brought to existence by the English novelist Ian Fleming back in 1953. James Bond was the central character in twelve novels and two short story collections. There have also been 22 films to date beginning with “Dr. No” back in 1962.

Ian Fleming, the author of James Bond, passed away back in 1964 but the grand person of James Bond lives on in novels by up to five other authors, such as Robert Markham, the pen name for Kingsley Amis, John Pearson, Raymond Benson, John Gardner and Sebastian Faulks. Christopher Woods novelized two screenplays and various other authors’ authored unsanctioned versions of James Bond.

Home Theater Lighting

by Marion Jones

Light fixtures are things that not many of us think about very often. However, the way we light a room can cause us to feel a certain way or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all areas of the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscaping design.

Are you planning to redo a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, because my friend, Owen Jones, asked me to give some advice. I definitely think that you should consider light fixtures as one element to change. For instance, you could commence by abandoning the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

How do you want your salsa? If you want it hot and sexy, just stick around as I bring out the spices for a hip tossing Latin beat for the how to… of salsa dancing.

Salsa has been influenced by many Latin American dances such as rumba, cha-cha, samba and others. It is a combination of sexy Latin-American dancing and modern jazz beats that produces new dance grooves and sexy dancing motions and positions. Each of its movement is an expression of style and rhythm that stimulate feelings of romance and passion. Depending on the dancers, they can improvise their own salsa moves just as long as it will fit the time measurement of the music.

Batman And His Past

by Andrew Tyalor

Batman is instantly recognizable today due to the length of time he has been around.

His past is based on an unsettling family background. He saw his parents being murdered at which time he decided he would dedicate his life to fighting crime. Not much later he developed his persona as Batman and kept his two identities separate.

Even as Bruce Wayne, our superhero emotes brooding and darkness. The films that capture the darker side of his nature are truer to the original character.

These aspects have become more apparent in recent years. The ongoing string of Batman films that began in 1989 have concentrated on the darker facets of his character. In fact they have gradually become ever more sombre. If we think back to the Batman television series of the sixties then the differences are enormous. The Batman of then was light-hearted and funny. Yes, the Batman of today still contains humor but now it leans more toward the dark and the cynical.

The CD versions from 1987 are considered to an example of very poor mastering which is why Beatles fans have been wanting to hear these classic albums remastered for so long.

It’s not just the new CD remasters that are exciting Beatles fans, it’s also the fact that the original mono mixes of their albums will be released in a mono box set on 9/9/9 too!

These new mono mix CDs will be the first time that many younger Beatles fans get to hear these albums as they were originally intended to be heard because it’s the first time that the mono mixes have ever been on CD.
